The Company: our work
PET scan diagnosis
In all centres, we have the newest high definition PET-CT scanners, made by General Electric and Philips. These provide PET studies in different areas (oncology, neurology and cardiology) as well as allowing research studies.
Radioisotope production
To carry out a PET scan it is necessary to administer to the patient a radiotracer drug, that is, a molecule that contains an atom of a positron emitting isotope, whose gamma activity is detected externally as it decays. The isotopes are produced in a cyclotron. In our CADPET centre in Seville, we have the General Electric PETtrace model, which is located in an underground bunker and accessed through a labyrinth entrance. It is a negative ion accelerator with dual particle capabilities and a fixed energy of 16.5 MeV for protons and 8.4 MeV for deuterons with beam currents of up to 85 micro amps. The PETtrace is an automated isotope generation system designed to provide fast, easy and efficient radiotracer production. Its efficiency is such that it is not only able to match clinical schedules, but also provides the flexibility needed for research protocols, and the performance to meet the demands of the regional distribution of isotopes. CADPET's PETtrace cyclotron supplies isotopes not only to the CADPET centres in Málaga and Seville, but also to other public and private centres in Extremadura, the south of Spain and Portugal. This cyclotron is able to produce F18, N13, O15 and C11 isotopes among others. We also have a radiopharmaceutical laboratory which complies with all the clean room regulations for the production of positron emitting tracers, with Nuclear Interface synthesis modules for FDG and Von Gahlen cells for synthesising and manipulation, a quality control laboratory to control the radiochemical purity of the tracers, HPLC equipped, chromatograph, sterilization heater, etc. FDG tracers are supplied to PET scanners in batches of up to 300 mCi.The Company: about us
The Company has a highly qualified and very experienced staff. A value that differentiates us from the competition.
